Benjamin Bertocci was raised in Stockbridge Massachusetts. He received his Associates Degree from Simon’s Rock College, his B.F.A in printmaking from the University of Massachusetts, and his M.F.A. From Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, where he was later employed for a year as Visiting Assistant Professor in Printmaking. Currently he lives in Brooklyn, and works as a studio painter and vinyl area supervisor at Jeff Koons Studios.
In his work, Bertocci focuses on social aspects of human behavior that have been catalysts for the evolution of violence. He also addresses the idea of the "self" from a philosophically naturalist viewpoint, and the effect that both cultural and genetic pressures have on the individual.
